Since uploading files through your web browser can be unreliable for large files, Recite supports the ability to import files that have been uploaded via FTP or SFTP. This is achieved by specifying the upload path on the Recite CMS server in the Upload Paths section. If one or more paths are specified, all files in these paths are shown when you import a file in the File Manager.
To manage upload paths, click the
link in the left-hand pane of the administration section. You will then be shown a list of existing upload paths, with the option to view, edit or delete each existing path. Before you can add a new upload path to Recite, the path you want to add must
contain a file called .recite
. This can be an empty file, but it
must be present at all times when using the upload path.
If you're using a Unix-based operating system, you can simply type touch .recite from the command-line in the directory you wan to add.
To create the upload path, click the
tab when viewing the list of upload paths. You will then be prompted to enter a title to identify the upload path and the path to use.Click the
button to save the upload path.To edit an upload path, either click the edit icon when viewing a list of upload paths, or click the Edit Upload Path tab when viewing the upload path you want to edit.
You will then be able to make any changes as required to the upload path. Click the
to save your changes. To delete an upload path from Recite, either click the delete icon when viewing the list of upload paths, or click the
tab when viewing the upload path you want to delete. You will be prompted to confirm deletion. Click
to confirm deletion.Deleting an upload path has no effect on the files within the upload path. That is, no files are deleted.
The upload paths are used when you import a file in the File Manager. If you have one more upload paths defined and there are files within any of those paths, you will be shown the option to import one of those files into the Recite File Manager. A copy of the file is made, and if you choose you can delete the original file from the upload path.
