Adding Containers to Page Content

The container management mode in Recite allows you to insert dynamic content into any of all of your web pages in real-time while you view them.

When your site templates are created, it is possible to define areas on your page which can hold the content. These are called containers. For example, if your site has a navigation bar in which you want to show pages you have created in the page manager, you would add a container to the area of the page where the navigation should be.

Inside each container you can have "container rules". In the above example, you would add the Site Map rule to your navigation container which would then display a list of pages in your site. Each container can have any number of rules.

Some containers are called "global containers", meaning the rules you add will appear on multiple pages, while non-global containers will display content only on the pages on which you add rules.

Getting Started

To view your web site in container management mode, click the Manage Containers link in the top-left of the Control Panel.

Your web site will then load in a new window, but instead of looking like it does to normal visitors of your site, you will see a number of containers on your page.

You are now in container management mode, meaning you can add new rules; edit settings for existing rules; change the order in which rules appear within a container; or delete rules.

If a container has rules in it already, each rule will be indicated on your web page, since the content of the rule will be wrapped in a titled box indicating the type of rule.
