Product types allow you to store different properties for different products. For example, your online store might sell shoes and books. In this case you would create a product type called "Shoes" with a "Size" and "Colour" property, as well as a "Books" product type which has an "Author" property.
To manage product types, first click the tab in the top of the left-pane of the E-commerce module. Under the Product Types headings, click to view existing types.
To create a new product type, click either the link in the left navigation, or click the at the top of the right-hand pane.
You will then be required to enter a title for your product type, as well as selecting the custom fields for the type. As an example, if you were to create a product type called "Shoes", then you might add an Integer field called "Shoe Size".
After saving the product type, you will be redirected to the details page for the product type.
To edit a product type, you can either click the Edit icon when viewing all product types, or click the tab at the top of the right-hand pane when viewing the type details.
Make any changes required then click to save the changes. If you remove a field accidentally the associated data will not be removed from any products – if you re-add the field the data will then be available again for associated products.
